The Hull Seals, a well-known group dedicated to answering distress calls from commanders needing urgent ship repairs out in the black, have submitted their own call to action to the pilot community.
In view of the recent outbreak of COVID-19 rampaging through the Sol system, the group is asking commanders to lend the collective power of their shipboard computers to the research effort, by running a background program from the organization Folding@Home. This distributed computing effort runs simulations of the virus’s proteins, in order to pinpoint weaknesses which can be used to create a pharmaceutical treatment.
Commanders do not need to configure the Folding@Home client, as it prioritises COVID-19 research by default, but using the team ID of the Hull Seals, 237247, will allow the extent of the pilot community’s combined efforts to be recognised.
